Lori Makabe Photography

Lori Makabe was an ideal photographer capturing the many expressions of the day. She managed to be everywhere, and anywhere the action was and yet, never called attention to herself. Lori just popped around from behind the scenes thta I hardly noticed I was being photographed. Lori's photo quality is artistic with a clear story behind every shot. She has a gift of shooting the focus of the moment with including the background to enhance the photo. I am most grateful to have had Lori recommended to me and in turn, I will be advising my friends and family to consider Lori as their photographer for their most precious moments.

Lori Makabe came to us highly recommended by a mutual friend but one look at her portfolio and 10 minutes into our first discussion with her and we knew she was the perfect person to record our wedding. It was a good call. We have a disc filled with magnificent images (and a few which show graphically what a horrible dancer I am!). We'll keep coming back to these for the rest of our lives. I'll be honest, we were shocked at how good we looked in a lot of her photos. There are plenty that look magazine-cover ready. The thing I can't figure out is, how was Lori in some many places to capture so many images? She moves so quietly and unobtrussively, you are barely aware that she is there. During the staged shots Lori relays directions in a calm, professional and engaging tone. You want to please her! Even better, she is open to suggestions from the wedding party. In other words, it very much feels like an indie film collaboration between director and cast. And finally, I don't know how often you can say this, but after "hanging out" with Lori for several days we consider her a friend. We know that we will see her around, either up in Northern California or in her second home toen Los Barriles, Baja.

I can't even put into words how absolutely amazing Lori is! She photographed our wedding this summer and I was completely thrilled with her work! On our wedding day she when above and beyond what I would have expected from a photographer, arriving early and staying until the very end. She was highly professional and fun and easy to work with, with a great eye for detail. My husband and I are not very comfortable in front of a camera and she made it so fun and creative and got so many fabulous shots. She was super on top of things, answered emails and phone calls promptly and had our wedding pictures posted by the time we returned from our honeymoon! Future brides (or anyone else looking for a photographer) look no further! If I could rate her 10 stars out of 5 I would!

Lori is awesome!!! She is so fun to work with and got so many great shots of our wedding that we can't decide on our favorites! There are way too many!!!! Lori had me make a list of all my "must do photos" which is the longest list she says she has ever had. I am a picture fanatic and my wedding photos were so important to me. If there is any area of your wedding where you can splurge do it on the photos and videography! The rest of the day goes by so fast and in what seems like only minutes the months of panning are over and the only thing you are left with are memories and photos of your day. Lori captured all of our special moments and we will be able to look back on those memories forever. Lori's knowledge and experience really shined through with her professionalism. She had a fun and carefree attitude that really allowed her creativity to capture some amazing photos. The experience was a tremendous amount of fun and we will definitely be calling her when we have our first child!!!

Lori has tons of great ideas for engagement pictures and wedding site photos, and can work with any space to create a great wedding photo. She is very flexible with the wedding packages and very fast in responding to emails etc. We just got our wedding photos the other day that looked amazing and arrived timely! She even had our wedding photos online within about a week! She is a very personable person and spent a lot of time with us to see what kinds of things worked for us and gave us plenty of direction with the wedding and everything went so smoothly! Could not thank her enough!!

We had probably one of the most difficult weddings to shoot for: huge bridal party, evening wedding (got dark after ceremony), veyr tight budget, and mosquitos to boot! Lori and her assistant remained professional, organized, and kept the mass of people moving along. I felt like a princess with my one-on-one photography session with her. Lori is an AMAZING photographer, but then you add in her fabulous personality, professionalism, and creative flexibility and you have a completely hassle free and super memorable experience for your event! We are sooo glad that we went with Lori for our wedding. She was completely open to all of the ideas we had from the get go about our pictures and was soo much fun to work with! Her packages are comprehensive in themselves but she was also very flexible to work with us around our needs and budget. Overall a SUPERB experience!

Lori is such a fabulous photographer! She has a great eye as an artist and really makes you feel comfortable in front of the camera. I would recommend her for any aspect of photography wether is be your engagement, wedding, baby or just family photos.

Lori and her team were really great. She likes to do a lot of straight faced (sultry) looking photographs of the bride by herself which I am a fan of the smiling pictures. However, I am super happy with my results. My husband and I had no problem picking several of our favorites as she gave us over 600 to choose from.

Lori, although a little scattered, as I'm sure most true artists are, she was an amazing photagrapher. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, Lori's are worth a million!!! We did have to wait a considerable amount of time for our album, but because of the wait she ugraded our album to a much more expensive version, which is more than a lot of photagraphers would have done. This is most certainly one aspect of any wedding that should be splerged on, if nothing else, at the end of the day, the pictures are what you will look back on to remember the intimate details of your special day, and the pictures Lori took captured every enchanting moment.
